Looks nice have not installed yet, waiting on a few more things to come into place before install!!! The only thing was as much as we spent on the system it comes with NO cables or anything to start the install???
I had been looking for a backup solution for my house for a few months. For the rare occasion of power outages and bad storms. And something to supplement my daily usage of electricity. I decided to go with expert power because I had great success on a small 12 volt system I had installed in my RV earlier this year. I did have a couple issues at first with the 48 volt system, but tech support was prompt with helping me correct the issues.
I rarely review products I purchase and waited several months to submit this to make certain it was working great. You definitely need an understanding of house wiring, and patience once all wired to program the inverters. I put the inverters 180 deg out of phase to create 240V. The primary inverter is programmed for the Lithium battery setting, but the secondary inverter needed to be in the user defined mode (USE) for the system to operate correctly. This was not spelled out in the manual. The inverters have a sticker on the side indicating the use of 4AWG wire, but #4 wire doesn’t fit in the receptacle! I soldered the ends of the wire and sanded them flat on 4 sides to make them fit. Using #6 would have been easier. You get to program how much current can come in from the utility, so just limit it to what your wire can handle. The outbound current could be based on how much the inverter will supply, but most likely you don’t expect to run it over 75% rating. I’m running our dryer and a few other things only taxing the system at 50% max for short run times. During these long days of summer the batteries are fully charged by noon, and only get down to 65% capacity by morning when the PV panels kick back in. Of course that will depend on how much you tax the system after the sun goes down! I’m running 2 evap coolers on the hottest days, 2 fridge/freezers, and all the lights & plugs in the house. Another issue to consider is balancing your load. I had a fridge & freezer running together off one inverter and when those were the only load it would cause that inverter to have an unstable output voltage. It didn’t hurt anything, but the lights on that circuit flickered. I swapped breaker location on one item and it stabilized! Must have been a varying inductive load it didn’t like! Their customer support is great and knowledgeable, and although I’d prefer to write this a full year after being put in use, I feel pretty confident this will supply us reliable power for years to come. After 2 months I noticed the panels weren’t putting out as much power—washed off the dust and improved the efficiency 20%. I’ve never seen 540W/panel with direct sun; expect around 425!
Great kit fast shipping definitely for the size of kit everything arrived as described only change I would have liked to seen would be extra pv connection ends and add the dc breakers as part of the kit as well
To preface, we could not have been more happier going with Expert Power’s 3240W l 10KWH solar kit. From the price range, the reliability of the components, and the seamless integration with my off-grid home, going with ExpertPower was one of the best decisions I have made.
The kit was purchased on during late February of 2024, and since we are located relatively near their facility, we decided to pick up the solar kit ourselves. Picking up the solar kit was an arduous process, as the panels themselves need proper security onto our pick-up truck for the long ride home. However, the ExpertPower employees went above and beyond with their service, spending hours assisting us with figuring out the best way to strap on the solar panels onto our pick-up; they meticulously made sure all connections were proper and tight to ensure the product safely arrives to our destination. We could not have asked for a better group of professionals to assist with the pick-up process, and truly thank them for the assistance they have provided to us.
For the product itself, the kit was to be used to provide electricity for a self-built home in an off-grid location. As one can tell, having access to electricity was a very big deal; running off the generator consistently is a massive toll on resources. ExpertPower provided a kit that was within an excellent price range, and for the quality that I was able to receive, it was able to change my lifestyle in different ways. As a person relatively new to DIY solar systems, be warned that there will still be a learning curve when properly setting up systems. However, ExpertPower streamlined the process by providing us with assistance when needed; their customer support provided us with plentiful resources such as wiring diagrams, accessory recommendations, and proper wiring practice/tips. The wiring diagram was professionally made, and was visually simple to follow, which allowed us to finish setting up the solar kit without much issue at all.
The main appliances that are running with this system are as follows: a refrigerator, stove, microwave, lights inside the home, charging for my power tools, and water heating. Although I am very conservative with power consumption, power generated from the solar kit enables me to use power in my home more liberally then ever. After a full day’s use, the battery capacity at most drops to 50% SOC, but gets fully charged the next day after. As of now, the generator I heavily relied on before, is used as emergency power, but for the meantime, it is there to mainly collect dust.
For the solar panels, we have decided to go with a custom-made ground mount for half of the panels that face the equator, the other half the panels are located on a sloped roof of the house. The quality of the solar panels is absolutely incredible for the price; they are workhorses and bare the grit of the elements in the mountains where I live, yet they constantly are able to bring my battery bank to full charge daily without fail. The panels produced an average of 13.7KWH per month so far, which is more than enough to charge my battery bank.
Thank you ExpertPower, for the amazing support you have given to me. As I plan on building a larger home for the future, I will contact ExpertPower once again for upgrades to a larger solar system.
